Before Christmas we went on a family trip on to Vegas, that my grandma paid for to make us happy. Some of my aunties and uncles and parents paid for there kids. My grandma would pay for her son's and daughters. My grandma wasn't rich but she would spend money to make us happy. While going to Vegas my grandma would say anako make sure you behave over there to your parents, cousins, and aunties, uncles. Going to our hotel rooms me and my brother would fight over the nicest bed. And my grandma would come in and say u guys will sleep on the floor for this night because you are being bad boys, in Filipino accent. "Anako where do you want to eat", my grandma said. I said I wanted to go eat at the confession stand out side our hotel. After spending days at Vegas we took a rode trip to Disney Land where we went to ride scary Roller coaster rides. My grandma would say anako do not ride that because you are to short. She really cared for me the whole trip she watched after me just like how I watch out for my cousin.
As time went on, Christmas came by she would always go shopping to get presents for the who family. She did not care how much money she spends, she would only care on how much she gives. She would always put to anak on the presents to shoe that the presents are for me because I'm the only one who she mostly calls. My grandma calls me anak so much times that I think it is my real name. What my grandma got me for Christmas was army guns and we got a cat, we wanted to name it anaka, but my mom wanted to name it figi which is a German name. I would always say Thank you so much grandma and give her a kiss after she would give me the present.
I ask my dad to teach me some filipino so I can teach my kids in the future. I will definitely use the word anak to my son. When my grandma used to watch me when I was young she used to always cook for me and my little cousin she used to cook fish, and other filipino food. She would always tell me to eat all my food, she taught me that there are a lot of hunger out there and it would make me feel bad. If I would make trouble to my brother or do something bad she would give me "bak bak" which is spanking in Filipino. Me and my brother used to always fight and my grandma would say anako stop fighting in a filipino accent and we wouldn't listen so we would get bak bak.
As I got older and as time went by my cat died because two dogs were harassing it, and me and my family was very sad and we buried it. My grandma found a job as a janitor so she could earn money but she got paid twice as much because she was friends with the owner. I would always go with my dad to drop my grandmaa off to work early in the morning. She used to always say goodbye anak to my dad and to me becausethat's how respectful she is. Anak to me is not just meaning son, but meaning nice, respectful, and generous. Thank you Grandma for always taking care of me. With out you I wouldn't have the courage to say anak or learn filipino when I get older.
